PAY RAISES, STEPS, $50 FOR HEALTH INSURANCE PART OF ARBITRATOR AWARD

Arbitrator Catherine Harris made her award late on Monday, November 7th. The highlights of the contract award are as follows: Two steps retroactive to July 1, 2016, a 1.125% increase effective January 1, 2017, and another 1.125 % increase effective April 1, 2017. Additionally, CCSD will pay $50 more per month towards health insurance effective January 1, 2017. Language revisions include a new seniority provision that will require route bidding for bus aides to be done by seniority.

“This is a big settlement award for education support professionals and a huge step forward in restoring our steps and raises. We could not have done it without the support of our members and leaders who stood united throughout the process," said ESEA President, Virginia M. Mills.

A special thank you goes out to all the members who worked tirelessly on the bargaining team and to the ESEA site based leaders. Now, the work continues as the ESEA leadership prepares again for another round of negotiations that will begin in early 2017.

HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS FROZEN FOR 9401 EMPLOYEES

The ESEA Joint Insurance Advisory Committee finalized health insurance premiums that will stabilize premium cost for most employees. Those in plans with increases will see less than a 1% increase in their monthly premiums. Co-Pays and out-of-pocket expenses will change due to the ever rising cost of health insurance nationwide.

If you are not a member, you can join at the door.  To get ready for the meeting, we request members bring their current hourly pay and pay grade information (pay stubs will be fine) so we can help you calculate the increase in your pay. Also bring information on the health plan you have so the agents from American Fidelity can assist you.

Arbitration Update!

by ESEA on 11/04/16

The ESEA team did an exceptional job in arbitration and now proceedings are complete. Typically, an announcement of an arbitration award can take from a few days to a few months. Priorities taken to arbitration were as follows (in no particular order): across the board pay raises, funds to offset PERS and health insurance increases and the reinstatement of STEPS.

The other issue is the new health insurance premiums. If possible add that, if not don’t fret. The calls that are coming in are about the arbitration award that is still pending.
