Pay Raises, Steps, $50 For Health Insurance Part Of Arbitrator Award

Arbitrator Catherine Harris made her award late on Monday, November 7th. The highlights of the contract award are as follows: Two steps retroactive to July 1, 2016, a 1.125% increase effective January 1, 2017, and another 1.125 % increase effective April 1, 2017. Additionally, CCSD will pay $50 more per month towards health insurance effective January 1, 2017. Language revisions include a new seniority provision that will require route bidding for bus aides to be done by seniority.

“This is a big settlement award for education support professionals and a huge step forward in restoring our steps and raises. We could not have done it without the support of our members and leaders who stood united throughout the process,” said ESEA President, Virginia M. Mills.

A special thank you goes out to all the members who worked tirelessly on the bargaining team and to the ESEA site based leaders. Now, the work continues as the ESEA leadership prepares again for another round of negotiations that will begin in early 2017.

Health Insurance Premiums Frozen For 9401 Employees

The ESEA Joint Insurance Advisory Committee finalized health insurance premiums that will stabilize premium cost for most employees. Those in plans with increases will see less than a 1% increase in their monthly premiums. Co-Pays and out-of-pocket expenses will change due to the ever rising cost of health insurance nationwide.
