We need your help to send Governor Sisolak a letter about the unprecedented times we are all facing. As you may know, 9-month and 10-month Education Support Professionals are not eligible to receive unemployment benefits after the school year has ended.

Per Nevada law (NRS 612.434), if you are not working because the school year has ended and you have a "reasonable assurance” to return when the next year begins, such employees are not considered “unemployed” for purposes of claiming unemployment insurance.

As such, many Education Support Professionals seek employment opportunities during these months. Unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, job opportunities in the summer months are likely to be extremely limited, and we need help from Governor Sisolak

Please submit a letter to Governor Sisolak, and ask him to broaden the unemployment insurance eligibility so that Education Support Professionals can receive benefits in the summer months.
