ESEA Statement on Pay and Benefit Increases

(Las Vegas, NV) - Education Support Employees Association (ESEA) is continuing to work
with the Clark County School District (CCSD) on finalizing the pay and benefit increases that
were passed by the Legislature this Session, as promised by the Governor. We have set
three (3) negotiation dates with the District: August 27, 2019; September 3, 2019; and
September 10, 2019.

“We expect to settle a contract with the District via the bargaining table; and not in the
streets,” said Virginia M. Mills, President of ESEA.

ESEA does not support or encourage any of its members to engage in an illegal strike. We
would remind our members that striking in Nevada may result in immediate termination from
the District.

“Education support professionals are the backbone of the District, and we provide a wide
range of vital services to the children in our public schools,” said Virginia M. Mills. “We
provide the only meal a student might receive all day; the only safe environment a student
might have all day; and the only caring adult a student might speak to all day. We will not put
our kids in harms way and walk away from our classrooms, our lunchrooms, and our buses.”

ESEA is the largest of 30 local affiliates in the Nevada State Education Association. ESEA
was active with NSEA’s Lobby Team during the 80th Legislative Session fighting for
additional funding for Nevada public schools, including a 3% raise for all Nevada educators.
