UPDATE: SAVING FACES
October 22, 2021 Update:
Education Support Employees Association membership and the community stood together 100 strong at the last CCSD board meeting to save the valuable program of FACES. The actions of ESEA and the many parents, teachers, and support professionals stopped CCSD from eliminating FACES centers.
Because of all of our efforts, all ten centers will remain open.
These actions also saved the jobs of over two dozen FACES support employees who reflect the communities they serve. These mostly minority women will continue to provide valuable wrap-around services for our families and children.
We remain Stronger Together! Thank you to all who contributed to this action supporting our support professionals, students, and families.

The Education Support Employees Association (ESEA) stood with parents, students, community partners and FACES staff calling on the CCSD Board of Trustees to stop the elimination of the FACES program.
Approximately 100 people filled the trustee meeting, many speaking passionately during public comment about the difference the FACES program made to them, their children, and their families. Others submitted written comments, and all held signs in support of FACES. Currently, 10 sites exist in Title 1 schools to help those families most in need.
CCSD plans to reorganize the Department, eliminating up to four of the ten sites. CCSD has also eliminated all of the current 27, (mostly minority and long-term women) of FACES who provide the direct care. CCSD has provided no plan for the continuation of services to the students and community.
ESEA President Jan Giles, called on the Trustees to keep the onsite hands-on services to the families and children with our professional staff, who are also important role models in their communities. ESEA is moving on next steps to protect these workers, families, and students.
